Matty Davis’s interest in the conditions determining movement have led to dances staged in Death Valley, rural ballfields in Oklahoma, and atop deserted tractor-trailers in the Great Smoky Mountains. Ben Gould is an artist who, following a diagnosis of Tourette’s Syndrome, adapted his studio practice to manifest a heightened interest in the body, exploring limits, resistance, and loss of control. Together, their site-responsive 45-minute work, Carriage, will be performed twice only, in a limestone cave at Subtropolis.
